Squared but Not Scared ~ 05 October 2006

In but days Jupiter exactly forms a right angle to Saturn, advancing ahead of his solar system companion - finally. Let’s go back to the basics. Jupiter pushes outward for more, bigger, better and applies a level of optimism that cynics call naive (the Twins still could win the World Series - my apologies to those of you not in the U.S.). Saturn demands elbow grease that follows planning and preparation. Jupiter, presently sailing Scorpio’s wildly rolling seas, foolishly stands above the bridge of the ship, enjoying the oceanic spray as the ship dives into the waves, yelling “Woo-hoo! Yee-ha!” “Silly boy,” observes Saturn, “Jupiter’s going to get all wet, salty and cold.” True, but Jupiter knows what he fancies, has access to hot tea or cocoa and tons of towels in warm quarters when tired of the ride. You know, Saturn might be envious of Jupiter’s ability to have fun.

Still, the prevailing pattern seems to be anything but fun. The strife felt by so many lately that’s been creating the question, “When will it get easier?” roots in this alignment. Jupiter has cleared Neptune by degree in the past week, which caused that damn stupid urge (when you’re in it) to push hopefully one more time toward greater things. Next week Jupiter meets the degree of Sedna. Make good choices. Thoroughly research options and opportunities, walking them out through several steps of possible results - like a well-calculated chess game played in 3-d while in hyperspace’s 5th dimension. Then, on the 25th, Jupiter cruises through the aspect, allowing some things to come to pass. But here’s the deal. At that point, five planets will be in the excessively intense, deeply evocative sign of Scorpio. There’s just no denying what you feel or what you want. Scary, ain’t it?

Scorpio planets laugh at this. While some refer to Scorpio as overly intense, Scorpio refers to such accusators as weak willed and wimpy. You want it or you don’t. Live life like you mean it. Without the “do this day as if it were your last” agenda, the potency of the transits could be missed. While astrologers note the mentally based Mercury retrogrades in this same time, potentially permitting three changes of mind, don’t count on it. Jupiter remains one of the more impatient invitation senders of the planets. Figure with any Jupiter impulse it’s a matter of hours or a day or two at most for a life altering decision to be made. If you don’t move on it, he’ll find someone more courageous and willing to ride the waves taking stinging salt spray in the face. Be bold and conscious. The t-square in motion has no use for timidity.

Back on the “What the hell does this new drawf planet Eris signify?”front, I have a great example. Consider America Ferrara (April 18, 1984, Los Angeles, CA.), the lead actress in ABC’s new show “Ugly Betty.” There’s a lot in her chart to chat about in astro circles, most relevant to understanding the newly realized player in the solar system, check out the Venus-Eris natal conjunction of just over two degrees. When the show aired on September 28 for the first time, Mars opposed her Venus and smartly stood across from Eris as well. Remember Eris was snubbed from a wedding, took it poorly and tossed an apple with the inscription “for the fairest of them all” into the wedding reception and then all hell broke loose. Here’s a show about an awkward, but determined young woman working for a high-power fashion magazine. All the exclusionary circumstances of society appear for our viewing pleasure and evolutionary understanding. It’s all about beauty, social caste systems, being “in” and what really, truly matters. I’ve long contended that UB313, now Eris, would refer to the healing of addiction to status and success. This Eris rich show rocked out of the gate, has a huge buzz going on about it and interestingly, people are praising the message, which might actually contradict some of their behaviors and consciousness. America Ferrara offers a clear hint of Eris and the show reveals the background swarm of societal attitudes the new body seeks to heal. Next Sunday and Monday, my column about this show (and more) will top the Media Village TV Buzz section of Media Village. It's front and center and easy to find. Please check it out.

By the way, the ephemerides for Eris, Sedna and the two new dwarf planets 136108 and 136742 are complete. These can be ordered by using the Where is Eris? link on my site. I have read that one of these (or maybe both) numbered bodies will soon be named. I put in my two cents a while back. Why do you care? Two new healing archetypes await our exploration and use.

As for the “but these bodies are so small” thinking, I have just completed a series of graphs of varying factors of the planets and dwarf planets in our solar system. These include gravity, density, diameter and mass. Not surprisingly, outside of the “it’s so long” or “so wide” thinking, how tightly a planet is packed matters as well. I’m still musing on some of the plots and pondering the best way to make this data available. Stay tuned. Look for the forthcoming verification that when you consider a planet’s density to its gravity Pluto, Mercury and Mars, in that order, take home the prize. Maybe Jupiter-Neptune will take us outside a one-dimensional approach to planetary impact. More to come, but I may have to be a bit less frequent in GT’s for a spell, and no, it’s not just the baseball playoffs on TV. There’s some musing remaining.
