A Grand Year for Pluto (and the Galaxy?) ~ 2 January 2007

The New Year is underway and the Earth and Sun presently maintain (for the next day or so) the minimum distance between themselves. This contact point, known as Earth’s perihelion, allows each and every inhabitant upon the planet to feel the solar energy at maximum intensity despite the temperature outside. It’s a bit supercharged as we take in all of the goodness of the Sun while our home base swirls around its star at maximum speed in the orbital trajectory. Truly, if you were born under a Capricorn Sun, you have a “fast” Earth. Maybe we don’t think of Capricorns as fast per se, but we do find these folks ready and johnny on the spot looking for a practical solution to any eventuality life tosses our way.

As the Earth moves about the Sun, our star moves about the core of our Galaxy - 26 Sagittarius 56.8 as of 1/1/2007. The easiest tracking reference for this point is in The American Ephemeris for the 21st Century. Each month a position is posted in a data box noting the slowly advancing movement of the precession of this point. As you’ve no doubt read by now somewhere online, Pluto directly and most intimately deals with Galactic Center all year long. Pluto contacted the Galactic Center precisely on December 29th and will retrograde back over Sgr A, the black hole used as the reference point, on July 16th. Later in the year Pluto passes this critical point in direct motion; that event occurring on October 28th. While this is Pluto’s last “exact” contact with the Galactic Center he remains in relevant astrological proximity through the entirety of 2008. But 2007 is the grand year. This is Pluto’s time to shine, enlighten and show humankind once and for all what the Underworld is all about.

Mythologically, the Underworld is not Hell as viewed by religion. The Underworld in most mythological cultures is the place to which souls retreat for rest after the ending of life, and is the place where “stuff” gets worked out in the interest of evolution, transformation and resurrection into a new way of being. While these superlatives can seem trite when casually tossed about in the jargon of metaphysics, philosophy and astrology, that is not their intent. Truly, with descent in the Underworld, one realizes what makes the soul tick and vows to make something significant and brilliant out of what’s left of life.

Last week the History Channel aired a show on the Mayan prophecies and the impending expiration of their brilliant calendar. The writers and producers of the show would not easily surrender the idea that the conclusion of the Mayan Calendar brings the destruction of life on Earth as we know it, meaning in their terms that mayhem, destruction - whether natural or induced by co-inhabitants on the planet - must occur to fulfill the prophecy. No. NO. NO! The ending of life as we know it has equal right to mean that things start working - really working - on the planet for the first time ever, or in a very long time. Even the “experts” consulted on the show did not state what the show wanted to state, which seemed to be “We’re doomed! We’re all going to die just like the dinosaurs did!” In that case, what’s the point, do you reckon?

Pluto always and especially while accessing the Galactic Center potently insists that all people figure out what makes their personal inner workings tick. He also insists that each person capable of tracking the galactic core do so. That would be anyone willing to sit still long enough to listen, exclude personal issues from the listening and allow innovative insights and ideas enter the head even if they’re a little hard to apply. Galactic Center ideas lead the current consciousness by at least six to nine months. It takes a while to bring these things down and make them sensible. When they enter the head, they challenge the sensibilities of the listener. Doubts appear as to how such a strange idea will ever be accepted. Sit with it a spell. Listen to each and every detail. Write it all down though, and work out the plan. Slowly, as people recognize critical issues in the process of personal planetary evolution, the receptivity to the GC insights warm to a richness of intensity like that felt by the Earth from the Sun today.

Since we’re dealing with Sagittarius here, this means that issues of right/wrong naturally appear in this mix. Given that Pluto distills the wildly progressive insights, those attached to their ideas do not surrender them kindly. Sacred cows will be sacrificed and the anxiety that goes with change, progress and adjusting to unfamiliar insights and beliefs lead to unknown circumstances. Pluto’s actually quite pleased with the process. He loves the concept of surrender, not necessarily for himself, mind you. The Galactic Center does not insist upon receptivity to its ideas. But with Pluto acting like a bit of a cattle guard he’ll coerce and convince people, one by one, that taking the path of progress by stepping into the domain of the Underworld is the ticket. The Galactic Center addresses the issue of insights that appear. When ignored, insights become precious water passing under the bridges of opportunity.

Truly, this stands to be a year of change, evolution and progress the likes of which the planet has never seen. Certainly Pluto passed by the Galactic Center in the past. This, however, is the first time humankind has been conscious of Pluto and the Galactic Center. Consciousness does roost upon the vantage perch of being conscious, cogent, aware and in the state of including all insight.

My suggestion: There’s no need to stress over the vast implications of this. Just make a point to periodically perch in a place where the insights can be “seen” or most likely heard. When the circumstances in your life shift to a point of receptivity to the grandness of the Galactic Center, apply a little Pluto power to your throttle of shifting your turbines to match the pulse required by the insights. All year long the new dwarf planet Eris works in harmony with Pluto. She’ll reserve the very course of the Heavens if need be to get people on the other side of insight.

Why not start today, with the Earth cozying up to the Sun?
