Over the Top ~ 01 September 2005

First, the title of today’s Galactic Times carries no intent to be an ill-thought reference to the flooding in the United State’s Gulf Coast in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. I ache with every visual image blasting across the screen of my television. Like everything right now, it all seems a bit much for so many. And the U.S. doesn’t stand alone in weather woes. Cyclones head west in the Pacific to take on the mainland of Asia. Let us not forget India’s recent flooding, nor the effects of last year’s tsunami, nor the unfortunate loss of life in Iraq yesterday induced by rumor of terrorism and the resulting exaggerated panic. The title, however, remains consistent with the images above and it came to mind last week before Katrina struck.

How odd is it that we can look to the sky just after sunset to observe Venus holding hands with Jupiter, near the nifty stars Spica and Arcturus, and see such beauty while life seems so overwhelmingly supercharged? All the images work neatly actually. Venus and Jupiter offer up a departing, but still in effect aspect to Neptune. That gaseous planet holds dominion over oil prices. Venus refers to money and Jupiter inflates everything it touches. Gas prices were rising before Katrina, but now... my feet hurt just thinking about how fit I’ll soon become with the increase of footsteps I intend to employ. As well, we’re encouraged to be generous in our support of those subjected to nature’s fury - again an image consistent with current planetary patterns. We should probably be generous to a fault to all of humankind that suffers.

It’s an odd thing and I’m suspecting that some of the Venus-Jupiter alignment in the moment invokes the energy of the newly discovered “planet.” Indeed, over the next several days both of those bright lights stand opposite to the new body in the heavens. Given that the orbital elements stand as now defined, 2003 UB313 receives emphasis from Taurus and Libra, both classically associated with the planet Venus, now stands infused with Jupiter. My interpretive theory assigns the question, “What do you value most in life?” to the new planet. Truly, some of the victims of Katrina lacked the resources to flee her destruction. As for others, why did they make the choices they did regarding fleeing or staying? This shows up on a more mundane level in the looting. Personally I have no quarrel, if a person steals water, diapers and food from a store during such extreme circumstances. But as seen on the television, is it true that those stealing plasma screen TV’s (during a black out no less) are gathering bargaining chips for life’s staples, and what about the fact that if New Orleans is evacuated, they can’t take it with them anyway?

Like every other event of major proportion, Katrina and the cyclones in the Pacific, panics in Iraq, and even events failing to the make the news, affect us all. The resiliency of humanity rises like a tide in such intervals of duress.

Still, Venus and Jupiter convene together, smiling in brightness above us, and taking pretty much every reaction regarding what concerns us most over the top. Certainly I hear this from where I sit and I notice my own reactions to things - obviously extending into far reaching, possibly exaggerated realms at present. Whatever a person values gains emphasis right now courtesy of the bright lights following sunset. Go back to the basic questions. After you do your part to feel better about the events on Earth, what do you need and what do you want? These urges come from completely different realms. Yet, the blur between those factors and the importance of both rises in this time. Jupiter, the just lord, also oversees justification. Amplified, irrational and rationalized reactions prevail regarding life’s most desired commodities, whether money, love or even life.

The best a person can do occurs as they go outside to look at the lovely lord and lord-ess in the sky, propitiating with the sparks of creativity, passion for life, soulful purpose and the drive to manifest dharma. In theory, rewards come to renderings. Perhaps now, more than any other time, rendering one’s best potentially exceeds similar efforts of the past.

Why? Well, the new planet is part of the present alignment package. This tiny body, like Pluto, offers enormous impact because of the areas of life it influences. Undoubtedly, a myth that exceeds transformation and provokes new levels of evolution will be assigned to the body. We wait in anticipation of the lore that leads us all onward into the next collective journey. As individuals reaching with what we have to offer, this wheel presumably commences its rotation now. Spinning in accord offers the calmest approach and soothes hyper-extended reactions.
