The Number Two See Saw - 07 June 2007
The first time it happened was at 8:13 PM, Tuesday, June 5, 2007 in Chase Field,
Phoenix Arizona. At that precise instant, Randy Johnson, became number two on
the all time
strike out list. The aspects couldn’t have been better.
The karma building south node recently crossed his Sun and Pluto as he endured surgery and rehabilitation for two more baseball seasons (and unlike Roger Clemens, he really will quit). On the very day, raw energy Mars crossed his natal fortune planet, Jupiter, with the current Jupiter rendering a trine from across the sky, retrograding. The emotional fervor of the Moon in Aquarius that night crossed the payoff for hard work Saturn. Breakthrough Uranus stood opposite his natal Sun and Venus... and there’s so much more.
Then the following Saturday, Roger “the Rocket” Clemens, returned to the New York Yankees, a team from which he had once retired and then traded in for a team close to home... so important in one’s mature years. Now Roger arranged a deal where he doesn’t even need to be with the team, he’s so special... anyway, I don’t want to get on his ego-driven Leo nature. Four days after Randy pitched, Clemens took the hill and struck out six, now leading Johnson once again. The next day, Randy pitched and struck out nine. He now leads Clemens by three.
It’s going to be like this a while. In fact, I suspect until Jupiter squares Johnson’s Pluto-Sun conjunction for the last time. Somewhere between mid-September and the end of the regular season, Randy should secure the record once and for all and be number two for a very long time to come.
New York fans argue Clemens is God (no, he’s just a Leo and acts that way) and that he’s a far better pitcher than Johnson. Categorically incorrect. In examining the numbers, Clemens has pitcher more than a thousand more innings than Johnson to be roughly equal him in the standings. Projecting a thousand more innings for Randy Johnson, he would be on the heels of Nolan Ryan at this point in his career.
While it’s clear I’m no Roger Clemens fan, I’m wondering who’s the better role model? A modest pitcher with fierce determination rich with self introspection, or a prima dona with an ego larger than his home state of Texas?
Baseball Update:
Ryan Braun, one of my picks to make the majors from Fall League last year, joined the Milwaukee Brewers on May 24th. How’s that for transiting Jupiter retrograding to the Node and coming back for the second of three Jupiter returns at the same time transiting Mars trines the Mercury-Uranus midpoint?
