A-Rod's Grooving April ~ 21 April 2007

This column pains me just a bit. The last thing anyone would call me is New York Yankee fan; one of the first things those who know me would say is that I'm a baseball fan. That I am. The fact of the matter is that Yankee third baseman, Alex Rodriguez is off to a fabulous start. What can we all learn from the charismatic Leo fielding the hot corner of the diamond?

Let's see, Saturn's done with his Sun for the rest of the season. Sure it squares his nodes in August as the season heats up... that'll just be interpersonal antics of some sort, not necessarily on field. Jupiter does not aspect his own Jupiter until the off season, when salaries, bonuses and awards like Most Valuable Player occur. That's seems good. Wait there it is! How Neptune of me! So there it's hard to miss. A-Rod has a Pisces Moon (more than likely), which would make him especially responsive to the planet Neptune. Presently Neptune squares his Mars. Wow! Look, there’s more! While Sedna lies very close to conjunct Mars, Saturn just resumed direct motion within a minute or few of his natal Mars (hard to know the exact number without an accurate birth time).

A-Rod ought to be friends with Saturn, too. Natally, Saturn and Mercury align in Cancer. This pattern offers up secluded moments of practice to perfect any deficient skills or perceived weak areas. Before yesterday’s game with the Red Sox, Rodriguez took extra practice on the infield catching pop flies. It’s said that the super star doesn’t like those. But the drill seemed to work. He easily (or so it seemed) put away a high fly during yesterday’s game. He should know that with the Pisces Moon in aspect to Saturn, it’s hard to judge those balls straight up in the air without a frame of reference to establish depth perception.

Evidently the hitter’s backdrop in New York, Minnesota, Oakland and Boston are working well for depth perception this year. More though, the Pisces Moon, feeling allied support from transiting Neptune, successfully abolished the thought process in batting. With Neptune squaring his Mars from Aquarius, creating a swing that falls in harmony with the tao of every pitched ball, Rodriguez has now smacked a dozen baseballs out of the park, which is a new record pace for reaching that milestone. The record number of homers in April is 14. With 15 games played and nine remaining to play in April, it’s impossible to imagine that record will not be his. Oh, yeah, his batting average while doing all this is .371. Oh, did I mention, two of the homers were walk off homers, ensuring the former Highlanders won those contests?

It is largely Neptune’s involvement. Neptune creates the “zone,” or as Kevin Costner described the focus that excludes distraction and creates super human focus while playing a pitcher going for a perfect game in the movie, The Perfect Game: “Clear the mechanism.” One writer reported that if hitting this well is about going unconscious, A-Rod is in a coma. It’s more than Neptune though. Saturn also squaring his Mars provides the precision of the swing, economy of effort and the discernment to perceive not only if a pitch is hittable, but if it can be driven with authority. There’s one other more obscure factor. The conscious-choice driven beyond the Kuiper Belt body, Sedna, allows for making a split second choice. I’ve not seen the stat to confirm his number of check swings, but every swing I’ve seen him make this season has been decisive. How else can a player hit like this, driving balls to the vast edges of the solar system where only Sedna a few other distant bodies linger?

Will it last? No, of course not. He’ll go up and down during the season as all players do. Will he have a phenomenal season? Of course, seen both as a baseball fan and astrologer. Should the Yankees make the post season this year, which a Yankee fan will assert is as certain as the Sun rising over the Atlantic (you might want to investigate the mythology of Eris, though. She conspired with Zeus to alter the rising of the Sun to be in the west.), A-Rod will have Saturn on Venus in Virgo. Given his paltry post season performances of the last years, he’ll apply undo pressure on himself to perform in super human regard, instead of with his super star abilities.

UPDATE: 1 May 07 ~ As the Yankees fell apart in April, enduring an unprecedented losing streak, the psychic contagiousness of Neptune and Pisces prevailed. A-Rod ended the month with 14 home runs, tying and not breaking the record.

Other notes: rreturns Tuesday or Wednesday. Last night in the D-Backs loss in San Francisco, Mike Schultz (previously written about here) made his major league debut. Schultz was one of my autograph picks in the Arizona Fall League last year. He pitched a strong, scoreless inning.
